My Mother’s Voice
Everything began two years ago with the protest of a grieving mother, who is known as “Mother Hacire” in Turkey. She came to the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) Diyarbakır headquarters with a hammer in her hand, broke the windows of the building and said: “I am not leaving here without my child!” And, she started a sit-in protest in front of the building. In this book, you will witness the stories of the children who were taken to the mountains when it was not possible for them to even marry of their own will, and who were given guns at a young age. You will feel the wail of Mother Türkan for her daughter, and you will feel the pain of the other mothers, who are on the watch of their children. You will hear the voice of Mother Ayşegül who shouts, “I will take my child away from you!”. In My Mother’s Voice, you will read about the experiences of Mustafa, who said, “I saw my mother on TV. I heard my mother’s voice and I escaped”, and of the other children. You will see the true face of the PKK terrorist organization.
